Choosing Arthur, Ontario was one of our best decisions. This is an area rich with agriculture and the fresh ingredients necessary to make quality spirits, all of which are sourced locally within a 50 km radius. Add to this all our grain is given back to local farmers for animal feed once we converted all the starches to sugars for fermentation. It is an ideal high-protein animal feed that we give to local farmers and is fully utilized at a no cost to the farmer and allowing us to not have any waste in our processes.
The residents of Arthur are included in many of our decisions and we have been blessed with all the local support, not only in naming some of our selections, but in offering direction on future spirits. Arthur also adds a unique experience of tourism for people visiting the Distillery and often having a chance to not just explore what we have to offer , but to also have the chance to investigate Canada's most Patriotic town. With specialty stores to investigate and nature trails to explore Arthur has become a destination for a day trip.
As one of the largest craft Distilleries in Ontario, Silver Fox Distillery has a unique dual still setup ( Bob & Doug ) are the two stills that work together to provide a combination of distilled grains and create flavours the cannot be captured in any other fashion. This completely enclosed system ensures quality as the mash is never exposed to the outside air once the process begins till it is finally distilled. Distillery tours are often held Saturday and Sunday and often while the stills are running to immerse the group in a real working distillery.
There are 3 things needed for success and a great product. Ingredients, ours is as local as possible, corn, oats, rye, wheat and barley are grown all around us. Maple syrup comes from the local Amish community and all other botanicals are sourced as locally as possible.
Equipment, we designed our own systems and have built many pieces ourselves thus giving us control of how our processes will work and to ensure a quality product and experience for our customers.
People, no one stands alone without the farmers, townsfolk, local government and exceptional customers, none of this is possible. We will never forget that and we don't just strive for the best in quality but Lisa and Mark invest there lives to constantly learn and grow through experimentation and knowledge. We strive for the best in experience to our customers, both on the palate and in the visit along with the community. Plan a visit to Silver Fox Distillery and stay for a walk through the town of Arthur.
More than just a Distillery experience, Mark & Lisa spent years building Doctor Who props ( some seen on TV) to travel around Canada and raise donations for Sick Kids Hospitals. In the seven years of doing this just over $200,000 has been donated to hospitals from the group they were active in. Travelling to Comic Cons and setting up a display for photos and interactions was an experience now shared in the distillery. Also, vintage cars appear from time to time at the distillery, Presently there is a Siva Edwardian on display, but a 51 GMC 5 window will be making an appearance upon its completion from a restoration.
Though the 1952 MG-TD has been moved from the distillery to the workshop, it will return after it has had its restoration.
With 9 Daleks, Davros, the Tardis and Bessie. We will endeavour to keep the showroom fresh and interesting.
